Lincs: Paul Weller to play live date at Scunthorpe Baths Hall as part of UK tour

‘The Modfather’ has announced a 14-date tour for March that will see him play a more varied selection of towns across the UK than the usual run of arenas.

The date at the Baths Hall on 17th March is the only show he is doing in the Lincolnshire region on the tour.

Paul Weller shot to fame as the main vocalist and guitarist with late 70s punk outfit The Jam with songs like Town Called Malice, Eton Rifles and That’s Entertainment.

Having split up The Jam at the height of their powers in 1982 after six era-defining albums, Weller spent the rest of the 1980s challenging pop convention with The Style Council.

The band released five albums during their eclectic career

After the Style Council came to an end at the end of the 1980s, Weller embarked on a solo career which has seen him rise to a permanently elevated status in British music through albums like Wild Wood, Stanley Road, Heavy Soul, Heliocentric, Illumination and Sonik Kicks.

In all, he has produced a total of 11 solo albums so far with a 12th, as yet unnamed one, due out in the spring.

A string of memorable songs such as You Do Something To Me, Sunflower, Wild Wood, The Changingman, Broken Stones, Peacock Suit Out of the Sinking, Brushed and From The Floorboards Up have cemented his reputation as one of the greats of British songwriting.

He has also won a long list of awards including the prestigious Ivor Novello award for Lifetime achievement in 2010 and the Brit Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music in 2006.
