The Choral Society will be performing with the Lincolnshire Chamber Orchestra, fine soloists and members of the Neustadt Liedertafel choir from Germany.

All those taking part are looking forward to commemorating all the fallen in battle over the last years.

Other items on the concert, which takes place on Saturday, 25th October, include the stirring Fanfare for the Common Man.

FS Kelly’s In Memoriam Rupert Brooke will also be presented again, as it was at this year’s proms event.

Conductor Neville Turner will also be in charge of Hymn to the Fallen from Elgar’s Spirit of England.

This portion includes his most beautiful setting of They shall not grow old and Neville will be conducting from a score once owned by Sir Henry Wood.

Members of the Choral Society will then go to Germany to sing the piece with their twin choir and also present will be members of Neustadt’s other twin town, Macon, ensuring the event will be a real international effort.

The performance at Lincoln cathedral begins at 7.30pm.
