NOTTINGHAM Rock City: Buzzcocks. Doors open 6.30pm. Hardly any bands performing today genuinely deserve the adjective ‘legendary’. Buzzcocks are one of. those very few. Their achievements are staggering. One of the original holy trinity of British punk (with the Sex Pistols and the Clash), innovators of the independent record scene and genuine punk rock superstars. Eight studio albums, over twenty singles and EPs, a constellation of compilations, covers by other bands and songs on film soundtracks and advertisements have put Buzzcocks among the top echelons of British recording artists. NOTTINGHAM Royal Concert Hall: Rufus Wainwright & His Band. Show time to be confirmed. Affectionately referred to by Elton John as ‘the greatest songwriter on the planet’ and praised by the New York Times for his ‘genuine originality’, Grammy nominee Rufus Wainwright has established himself as one of the great male vocalists and songwriters of his generation. WORKSOP Acorn Theatre: Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. Runs Thursday 15th – Saturday 17th November. Show time 7.30pm. The Dukeries Theatre Group will be showcasing their version the Pulitzer Prize-winning play by Tennessee Williams. It tells the story of Brick and Maggie, a couple who are struggling to keep their marriage on track. The action takes place on one evening on Brick’s family estate in Mississippi, where everyone is eagerly celebrating the birthday of Big Daddy Pollitt - who has come home from the clinic with a clean bill of health.
