Cultural festival is coming to Thoresby

There will be classical music, jazz and drama on offer at Thoresby Cultural Festival which runs from 16th September to 25th September.

It will begin in style when The Stonebridge Trust in association with Orchestras Live, present a beautiful, pastoral programme by Orchestra of the Swan from Stratford upon Avon.

The concert, featuring one of England’s foremost chamber orchestras, includes favourites such as Tallis Fantasia by Vaughan Williams, Finzi’s Clarinet Concerto and Concertante by Howard Skempton.

The concert takes place in Thoresby Riding Hall on Friday 16th September at 7.30pm.

It is a unique opportunity not to be missed and booking is essential.

The following day Stripes Theatre Company will perform its Edinburgh Festival hit show.

The audience will get to choose the storyline in a hilarious presentation of Two Brothers and One World Cup on Saturday 17th September at 7.30pm.

On 18th September audiences will be able to experience two memorable events.

First there will be a magical performance from Burlington Jazz from 3pm-6pm.

It will feature the full seven piece band as well as soloist Amy Southgate.

This will be followed by the opening of the prestigious 2011 Open Exhibition.

Visitors are welcome to the preview at 6pm for a chance to buy.

Open Exhibition at Thoresby Gallery is an annual exhibition and each year the number professional and amateur artists of exceptional ability producing a quality exhibition.

The Cultural Festival comes to a close on Sunday 25th September with Opera in the Afternoon by Magdala Opera.

The nationally renowned company presents an exciting programme including some all time favourites such as extracts from Tosca, Carmen, Don Giovanni and Rossini.
