Christmas trees now at forest

Thousands of Christmas trees are now on sale at Sherwood Pines Forest Park, raising cash to be used caring for woods in South Yorkshire and Notts.

Freshly cut Norway spruce, Nordmann fir and Lodgepole pine are on sale daily until 23rd December in the beauty spot, near Clipstone, Notts.

Forest chiefs say they have ensured a good supply of trees up to ten feet high.

And they said that a real tree uses ten times less energy to produce than an artificial one.

Recreation manager Chris Bray said: “We pride ourselves in offering freshly cut trees grown in well-managed woods.”

“Imported trees might have been cut months ago and kept in storage. There’s nothing like the fragrance of the real thing wafting through the home and Christmas would not be the same without a Yuletide trip into the forest to buy a tree.”

“The message is to buy early to enjoy the greatest choice.

“Nordmann firs have soared in popularity in recent years, but both pines and spruce have good local followings too.”

He said well cared for trees will last well through the festive period without dropping too many needles.”
