The usual mix of song, dance and ‘genie-ous’ humour at Mansfield’s Palace Theatre will make wishes come true for families this Christmas.

Philip Martin Brown of Waterloo Road fame takes on the role of evil Abanazar.

Latest signings to the panto cast include children’s TV presenters Gemma Naylor and Chris Edgerley.

Gemma will play the role of Princess Jasmine, the story’s fiercely independent yet romantic heroine.

Prior to entering the world of children’s entertainment Gemma’s work included Irving Berlin’s White Christmas (original UK cast) The Music of Dirty Dancing (UK tour) and Gotta Sing Gotta Dance (original UK cast).

Having played Wendy in Peter Pan pantomime last year, Gemma says, “I am very excited to be playing feisty Princess Jasmine this Christmas. I can’t wait to meet you all!”

TV presenter and actor Chris Edgerley will be playing the title role of Aladdin. Chris is currently playing local Nottinghamshire legend Robin Hood on a UK tour.

Most noted for presenting the hit CITV Show Hi-5, Chris has been entertaining and educating through song, dance and fun every morning for the past six years.

Chris said: “I can’t wait for all the panto madness to kick in – oh no I can’t! I’ve heard that Mansfield audiences are very loud and very crazy so we’re going to have a ball!”

His TV credits include guest hosting Children In Need and appearing in Emmerdale.

Aladdin will be performed from Saturday, November 28, to Sunday, January 3.
