That includes 68,702 people aged over 80, which is 91.4 per cent of people within that age group.

Just under 10 per cent of over-80s, and 10,212 people of all ages, have had both doses.

The percentage of people aged over 80 in South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw to have received at least one jab is only 27th highest out of 42 sustainability and transformation partnerships (STP) across England, with the highest percentage being 98 per cent in Gloucestershire and the lowest 73.1 per cent in the East London Health and Care Partnership area.

Across the North East and Yorkshire, 93.2 per cent of people aged over 80 and 18.8 per cent of those aged 16-79 have now had at least their first dose of vaccine.

Throughout England, more than 11.9 million doses of vaccine had been administered as of Wednesday, February 10.

The UK government today insisted it was ‘confident of our vaccine supply’ after the Scottish government said its programme would be scaled back following a dip in supplies to the UK.

The Prime Minister’s official spokesman said: “We’re confident of our vaccine supply and we’re confident that we can hit our target of vaccinating all those top four groups by Monday.”
