Tigers boss Craig Parry wants to see Worksop Town kick on next season after another successful campaign.

Worksop were crowned Sheffield & Hallamshire Senior Cup winners for a record 14th time last Thursday night, defeating Penistone Church 5-0 at Hillsborough.

Liam Hughes scored the Tigers first and fifth goal of the night, with Vaughan Redford, Terry Hawkridge and Jordan Burrow all on the scoresheet too.

And Parry now wants to see the club use that cup sucess as a springboard for more.

“I’m really pleased. I thought we controlled the game from start to finish,” he said.

“We took this very seriously all the way through the cup games and tonight we finished the job off well.

“We played at a good tempo, moving the ball well. We knew if we could make the pitch big that we’d create a lot of chances, we did that and it’s nice to see that we took our chances as well.

“It’s been a good all round season. Our first year back in this division and we got into the play-offs, but obviously we were disappointed to lose in the semi-final.

“To get to the first round of the FA Cup, away at Stockport was also a great day and a winners medal tonight.

“We’ve got to build on this now, it’s going to be a good summer.

“We’re going to work hard now to make sure we can try and take it one step further next year, especially in the league.

“Every year, as ourselves and the club we’ve delivered something. We’ve got build on that and keep that momentum going next year to keep bringing trophy’s into this fantastic club.”

Liam Hughes added another two goals to his already impressive tally this season, with Parry identifying how important the forward is in his system.

He added: “He’s been massive to us for the last two years.

“The way we play, our patterns of play and how we work has a focal point down the middle and he’s been a big part of that so it was good to see him back in the goals tonight.”
