The last Labour administration of Bassetlaw Council made a pledge never to close the Regal Arts Centre until Henry Boot had put in place a new build facility to replace existing facilities.
The main reason behind this was that prior closure would remove a much used and much needed cinema for local youngsters to visit on Saturday mornings and during school holidays.

It didn’t take the Conservatives long to dump this humble commitment when they got back into power, first by hiving of the Regal and now by reneging on the quid pro quo arrangement between the council and Henry Boot.

We, in and around Worksop, are left with nothing but frusration and disappointment with this visionless Tory council who again have missed another golden opportunity to help build a better community.

My blood boils.

Ex portfolio holder for leisure,
