I see from his article that John Mann has finally seen the light and is standing up to the Chancellor Alistair Darling and his Prime Minister Gordon Brown over the 10p tax band cut, which would make over five million of the poorest members of our society worse off. Well done, John!
But the question I would like to ask him why, when it was presented in the last budget, he and all the other Labour back bench of MPs cheered and waved their order papers, all agreeing with the this attack on the poorest members of our society.

When did you change your mind, John?

I hope, John, now you have got the taste for confronting your leaders, you will carry on with more of the same on other issues.

I can give him a couple.

1. a loaf of bread has gone up 16 per cent over the last year and is going up 10p a loaf this week

2. the price of petrol and diesel fuel has reached £5 pounds a gallon and is rising daily.

Will you, John, ask your Chancellor what he proposes to do about just these two obscene cost of living rises that affect the poorest members of our society?
