Gig has Kat purring

Sheffield born and raised, the talented vocalist, who swapped the Steel City for the bright lights of London two years ago, is heading home for a show at The Greystones – nearly a year since she last packed out the venue.

Kat says: “I get to play The Greystones again with my band – I can cannot wait,

“On Thursday, June 23, the band and I will be ever so excited to get back on stage to pick up where we left off.

“It’s nearly been a year since we sold out The Greystones and it was my favourite gig of all time.

“I can’t wait to see everyone again and catch up, particularly with those who couldn’t make it last time.”

Since setting up home in London, Kat has been enjoying plenty of success, with radio airplay and her own weekly music showcase.

“Things are going really well down here,” says the former lead singer of Sheffield band Feelix.

“I host a music showcase every Sunday in The World’s End in Finsbury Park – where Ed Sheeran has performed in the past – showcasing new and unsigned artists from London.

“My last single was played on Radio 2 and was exclusively revealed by the late great Sir Terry Wogan, and made it to the BBC London Playlist, which was a huge achievement, given that there are only four spaces and the other three were taken up by James Bay, Jack Savoretti and John Newman. The current single is about to go to radio so fingers crossed for similar results.”

This is the first single from a new collection of tracks from Kat ahead of her debut album which is set for release later this year.

Kat is certainly keeping busy, working on the new album alongside hosting her showcase, gigging and networking.

“I was recently asked to perform at the 30 under 30 music industry event for ReelWorld Radio Academy at Under The Bridge in Chelsea for more than 200 music industry professionals including record labels, radio executives and PR companies,” she says.

“ I sang with a 10-piece band – including a three-piece horn section, which was amazing – and the feedback from the event has been fantastic.

“I have some meetings lined up from that, so fingers crossed the next few months could be very exciting.”

Support at The Greystones comes from jazz/soul singer-guitarist Danny Maddocks, who has just released his first EP, called Save Yourself.

Kat says: “He will be joined on stage by a jolly good chum of mine, pianist Jon Trier, whom I’ve had the pleasure of playing with many times over the years.

“It’s going to be a lot of fun.”
