A FORMER Worksop cricketer has put together a sponsorship deal to develop the junior section at Central Avenue.

Worksop Cricket Club were presented with a cheque for £20,000 on Saturday, by Craig Buckingham, managing director of Red Rock.

He told the Guardian why he was happy to invest in the Bassetlaw League club.

“I last played for them about 10 or 15 years ago and I wanted to put something back into a club that gave me a great deal of pleasure,” he said.

“I want to develop the juniors, improve the facilities and then develop the first team, and get them back to the Notts Premier League.”

Steve Barker, vice chairman of the cricket club, said they were delighted with the sponsorship.

“Craig used to play for Worksop in the past and wanted to support us, because he wants to see more juniors coming through,” he said.
