Somerset are closing in on Nottinghamshire’s first innings score at Trent Bridge, having reached lunch on 346 for four on the third day, only 54 runs behind the home side’s 401.
Marcus Trescothick, who began the day on 117, remains unbeaten on 162, having faced 264 balls, with 26 fours and a six.
Jim Allenby has helped add 89 for the fifth wicket and is on 46 not out at the interval.
The only wicket to fall during the session was that of Jack Leach, who succumbed to the spin of Imran Tahir at the start of the day, without being able to add to his overnight single.
He edged one that eluded the grasp of Steven Mullaney at first slip but the next snick was held by Samit Patel standing next to him, at second slip, despite the fielder juggling the ball three times before holding on.
