Kiveton Park II 170 all out

Lea Park entertained the league leaders in the top of the table clash in Division Three and won by 49 runs

Park won the toss and batted first.

Mardle and Needham continued their impressive parthership at the top of Lea’s batting order, putting on 59 before Needham fell for 36.

Greg Andrews joined Mardle at the crease and the pair put on 98 in good time before Andrews went for a fine knock of 51.

Mardle followed eight runs later but not before adding another 50 to his tally.

The Park opener is in fine form at the moment and rarely looks threatened by the Div Three attacks.

Housham added another 28 with somebig hitting , ided by Orton.

But the Lea innings petered out towards the end with only three runs added in the last four overs, giving Kiverton a total of 219 to chase down.

The League leaders’ reply couldn’t have got off to a worse start when they lost Arnold first ball of the innings to a brute of a delivery from Slater.

The young paceman is giving glimpses of his true potential now and this was to be the first of five victims.

Despite getting starts, none of the top order of Kiveton could go on, and they leaked wickets as the score climbed to the hundred mark for the loss of five wickets.

Despite some brave resistance from Gilbert, who struck a nice 35, the rest of the batters were not up to the task and Slater claimed his five for by clean bowling Firth to give Park the points.
