Worksop Ladies III gained revenge for an early season defeat when they beat Redhill 2-1 on Saturday.
From the beginning of the game Worksop seemed to be the better side and were able to frustrate the opposition with some great passing and movement.
Redhill were not given any time on the ball and Worksop were soon rewarded for their hard work when leading scorer Joanne Pilson managed to beat the keeper and score the first goal.
Worksop were unlucky not to add to their lead before the break as they continued to pressure Redhill, using both wings and attacking through the centre.
In the second half Worksop picked up where they’d left off, creating chance after chance and passing with confidence all over the field.
It wasn’t long before they scored their second when they broke forward two on one into the Redhill 23 with Pilson finding Emily Holden in the D, who kept her cool in a one on one with the keeper and smashed the ball past the keeper.
However, Redhill were able to counter and win a short corner which they were able convert.
Worksop became very nervous in the last 10 minutes as it looked like Redhill may score again.
Indeed, in the very last minute Redhill won another penalty corner, which was cleared as Worksop held on to all three points.
Worksop IV were beaten 6-0 against top-of-the-league Notts Players II after only being able to field nine players.
However a determined defence supported by solid goalkeeping ensured that Worksop only trailed 1-0 at the break.
Chances for Worksop to score were created by midfielder Sam Fielding on several occasions, but unfortunately the finishing touch eluded the forwards.
The second half proved more difficult for Worksop as the reduced numbers began to show as two goals by Players in rapid succession paved the way more and a 6-0 final score.
