When the boss pays a visit, most firms double their efforts - but a Worksop business downed tools on Tuesday to greet their visitor.
Ross ‘the Boss’ Burkinshaw is a big hit at Worksop Timber Company, who have sponsored him for years.
The 27-year-old Sheffield boxer dropped in on the local firm this week, with coach Ryan Rhodes, to say thanks for the support ahead of his next fight.
Burkinshaw, who helped corner Curtis Woodhouse to a British title success last weekend, told the Guardian: “They’ve sponsored me since 2006 when I turned professional, they’ve always backed me, helped out with medicals and training.”
“Every little helps, it’s great to have them behind me.”
Rhodes added: “It’s massive, there’s only a handful of people who make the serious dough in boxing, so Ross needs people like this to back him.”
“They’ll be there cheering him on Sunday night and that’s a bonus as well.”
Burkinshaw takes on Georgian fighter Levan Garibashvili at the Octagon Centre in Sheffield this Sunday.
