LEE Westwood finished in the top 10 at the WGC Bridgestone Invitational at Akron, Ohio yesterday, after shooting a final round 65.
The Worksop golfer closed on nine under for the tournament, eight shots behind Australian winner Adam Scott, and tied for ninth place.
Speaking after his five-under par fourth round, the 38-year-old said he was delighted with his preparations for this week’s US PGA - the final major of 2011.
“On the weekend, tee to green, that’s probably the best I’ve ever played. It was that good.”
And after making some changes to his putting with the help of expert David Stockton and sprots psychologist Bob Rotella, the world number two added: “It’s moving along nicely.”
“I don’t want to get too ahead of myself, but today I felt a lot more confident on the greens, and saw the ball setting off on the line that I picked a lot more often.”
