Catch results are finally on the up as the Carp start to show across the county.

Ton weights have already started to appear during matches at Sherwood Forrest, Lodge Farm and Hallcroft fisheries.

All commercials are starting to produce some really good Carp.

None more so than Bennets Ponds at East Markham and Fox Covert Fisheries at Laneham, where specimens to double figures are already common-place.

Sherwood Forest Fisheries: Tue Open, Sherwood Lake: 1st C Greensides, peg 52, 71-15-0.

Chris beat a 19-strong field fishing pole maggot over groundbait to net over 100 Ide and Skimmers.

2nd A Lakey, Worksop Angling Supplies, peg 41, 47-3-0; 3rd M Burrell, Gateford Angling Centre, peg 47, 40-10-0.

Wed Open, Holmedale Lake: 1st L Hassett, Gateford Angling Centre, peg 36, 78-15-0.

It was a close call but Lee alternated between feeder and pole pellet to land Carp to 9lb to come out on top of the 22-strong field.

With 24 of the areas finest anglers turning out, this wasn’t going to be an easy ride but Richard put 14m pole pellet to good use, bagging over a ton of Carp to 7lb.

Worksop & District AA: More junior members are needed.

This is an excellent opportunity for local youngsters to receive coaching from some of the areas top anglers.

Matt Godfrey, Lee Kerry, Alan Scotthorne and Sandra Scotthorne are just some of the Coaches on hand this year to give expert guidance to their juniors.

The Worksop based club has a long and very successful history with its previous junior squads qualifying for Fish-a-Mania and winning the Angling Trust Nationals eight times in a row.

Anyone from ages 14 to 17 with a little fishing experience are welcome.

GAME NEWS

Toft Newton: 67 rods caught 423 trout for an impressive rod average of 6.3.

Toft really is offering great sport for all with fish still being caught on all methods from floaters and dries through to sinkers and lures with fish spread around the whole of the complex.

Regular stocking is helping to keep the big catches coming.

Coaching sessions have gone down well.

John Steels capped off his casting lessons with a beautiful Rainbow to get him off the mark.

Well done John, you’ll now be hooked!

The National Bank Championships will be held at Toft Newton on 12th April so get in touch and get your name down for the event.
