In a fantastic afternoon, they produced three wins and one draw to win the area final and retain the trophy they won last year.

Not only did they score plenty of goals, but they also went through the whole tournament conceding only one goal.

This solid defence was achieved with great teamwork between the girls and boys.

Achieving first place now means the team will travel to the Lincolnshire SSP finals at Grantham in March next year to take on the very best teams in the whole of the county.

Organiser Gareth Hart said Parish’s early form was remarkable.

“The competition was held very early in the year, so to have teams playing this well already is a real achievement.”

Pupil Oliver Snell added: “We won this tournament as well last year, so it is great to keep the trophy again.”

“We can’t wait to go to Grantham and represent the Gainsborough area.

And Mrs Davies lauded the improvement the children have made.

“The children have really come on with all their skills and in particular passing and moving the ball quickly,” she said.
