The police confiscated the prizes at Welbey Abbey Bowls Club’s Bank Holiday drive – as two ex coppers finished first and last.

John Hallam was the victor, winning a bottle of wine.

And fellow former policeman Andy Pointon took home the bar of chocolate – the club’s equivalent of the wooden spoon.

It was a well supported drive, despite dubious weather, and 26 bowlers took part.

On 21st May Welbeck Abbey travelled to Everton Bowls Club for a friendly fixture.

Fifteen players from each club took part in a close run affair, with the host team just taking the honours.

Sunday 25th May was a normal roll up at Welbeck with about 14 players turning out.

The club’s next match will be on 3rd June, when Blyth visit for a friendly encounter.
