Ladies narrowly beaten by high flying Manning

Worksop Ladies II were narrowly beaten by a high flying Manning side on Saturday.

It was Worksop who took an early lead, a pass down the right from Sarah Bagshaw picked up by captain Annabelle Wilson who pulled off a fantastic reverse stick finish.

Manning equalised just before-half time from a short corner and took the lead in the second half with a good tight angle finish from a counter attack.

Worksop stayed in the game, putting pressure on Manning, with good work from midfielders Sam Badger and Izzy Sheldon, but could not find an equaliser.

Player of the Match was awarded to Helen Williams.

Worksop Ladies III played Newark for the first match of the new season in Division 
Two.

Newark dominated play from the off, they were quicker to the ball resulting in Worksop going 3-0 down at half-time.

After a great team talk from captain Kate Cox, Worksop finally found their form, the team pulled together and started to break Newark’s play down, not allowing them time on the ball.

Great defending produced a fast ball down the wing sent into the D for a great finish from Kelsey Richards.

Worksop were unlucky to not score a second, and the game finished 3-1 in Newark’s favour.

Player of the Match went to Wendy Fleet.

Worksop Ladies IV impressed in their first game of the season against Boots VI.

This is the first season Worksop has fielded a fourth team.

The team’s work effort and commitment was evident and the game was a good advert for Division Three.

Worksop lost 1-0, but goalkeeper Sophie Foster put in a remarkable performance.

Worksop Junior Under 11s, a mixed team, have had an impressive start to the new season.

The youngsters picked up three wins in four games in their first tournament.
