LEE Westwood believes he’s swinging the club better than ever, ahead of this weekend’s Open Championship.

The major tournament at Royal St George’s in Kent began this morning, but Westwood had to wait until 2.30pm to tee off, alongside Steve Stricker and Charl Schwartzel.

Speaking earlier in the week the Worksop golfer said he was happy with his game.

“My form is right where I’d like it to be and it would mean everything, really, to win the Open,” he said.

“I’ve been playing well just recently and had a good stretch of results.”

“The form is pretty good, I’m happy with all aspects of my game.”

The 38-year-old, who finished tied for 14th at The Scottish Open last weekend as Luke Donald romped to victory, has been working on one particular aspect of his game.

He said: “I’ve been tinkering around with my swing, I feel like I’m starting to swing it even better.”

“I’m getting the right angle of attack on it now.”
