Ice hockey: Sheffield Steelers captain Phillips to make 500th appearance against Nottingham Panthers before Fife clash

Sheffield Steelers have a busy weekend, one that will feature two games and a landmark achievement for the ice hockey club’s captain.

First up for Gerad Adams’ men is a trip to fierce rivals Nottingham on Saturday night.

The Elite Ice Hockey League derby game against the Panthers will give Steelers captain Jonathan Phillips his 500th appearance for the club.

Now in his eighth season at the Motorpoint Arena, Welshman Phillips will join team-mates Jason Hewitt and Mark Thomas as a member of the ‘500 club’.

Steelers are likely to be without the serviecs of Pascal Morency however, who will miss out through injury.

Sunday night will see Steelers host Fife Flyers, at IceSheffield, with a 6pm face-off.
