Welbeck Abbey Bowls Club were unable to play their match against Yeoman Hill Bowls Club due to weather, and will hope to reschedule for later in the season.

Sunday 2nd June, however was a different story.

Once again a great crowd of players, 32, tuned out for the Long Botham Cup, an annual event for Welbeck Abbey.

This cup is an individual knockout competition, where each leg is played over 10 ends with two bowls.

The winner and runner-up played some 80 bowls during the afternoon, which lasted well over three hours.

The final game was very close with Frank Hague a worthy winner and John Bishop runner-up.

All those in attendance at the event were very grateful to Kath and Jean for providing a constant flow of refreshments throughout.

Anyone who wants to get involved with the club, and their competitions, can contact Maureen Morgan, club secretarty, on 01909 477744 for more information.
