Sheffield Steelers were 5-3 winners over the Edinburgh Capitals on Wednesday evening at ICE Sheffield.
Man of the Match Robert Dowd scored the goal of the night in the first period as the Steelers took a 3-1 advantage into the first break.
Tomas Petruska opened the scoring after just 96 seconds with Mike Forney and Mathieu Roy adding assists.
The Capitals came straight back with Dennis Rix scoring his first of two at 3.20.
Dowd almost broke the net as he fired past Hiadlovsky.
Goal number three came when Mathieu Roy finished off a nice move involving Mike Forney and Ben O’Connor.
And a fourth was added just 3.18 into the middle period by Jeff Legue, before Rix fired home past Josh Unice to make it 4-2.
In the final period Roy deflected Cullen Eddy’s shot, before Portwood rounded off the night’s scoring for the Caps.
Steelers travel to Nottingham on Saturday night.
