Division One champions lose two on the bounce

Worksop Division One champions Notts Arena suffered back-to-back defeats last week, going down to Breakers X and Welbeck B.

Andy Patterson, Tom Pritchard and Geoff Godley were the winning trio ina 3-1 victory for Welbeck.

Ricky Morris produced the champions’ only point in frame three.

Breakers X’s excellent start continued when beating newly promoted Grove Mill 4-0.

Daryll Peacock, Richard Griffiths, John Fisher and Craig Frost all won to see the X-men shoot two points clear at the top.

Other results saw Breakers S earn their first win of the season with a 3-1 victory over Warsop Ex-servicemen’s.

Meanwhile frames from Martin McNamara, Karl Goulding and Chris Marsden helped to earn Bassetlaw C a 3-1 home win against Langold Pocket.

Other Results: Warsop WMC 2-2 Stanley St G, Clipstone 2-2 Dinnington C, Notts Arena C 2-2 Welbeck A.

A bizarre second week in Division Two saw three 4-0 away wins.

Stanley B beat Hodthorpe B 4-0 thanks to Bill Raynor, Mark Hagen, Barry Chambers and Phil Stevens.

The second 4-0 came for Notts Arena B who hammered Stanley A with frames from Hayden Staniland, Josh Mallendar, Steve Mallender and Oliver Turner to take an early one point advantage at the top of the table.

The final 4-0 away win was for Dinnington A who beat Anston thanks to Richard Turner, Daz Pyatt, Neil Proctor and Alan Simpson.

With no draws in the Division, Woodend Pub’s 3-1 victory over Harworth B came courtesy of T. Broughton, P. Broughton and G. Forte.

It was the same scoreline for Institute A of Tickhill who beat Hodthorpe A.

The final result saw Stanley C make it two wins on the bounce.

Lee Hempsall, Nigel Bond and Kev Firth put three frames past Worksop Bowling Club to sit one point behind the leaders Arena B, but it is still very early in the season.
