Just four days after helping his county team to league victory over Lancashire, Lindrick’s Joe Dean was part of the Yorkshire golf team who beat their Roses rivals ine North of England’s County Qualifying Championship.
Yorkshire maintained their fine recent form at Ganton Golf Clubm and Dean was one of the six man team on duty.
He played a significant part in seeing his county successfully through to the County Finals, to be held at Royal North Devon Golf Club between the 26th and 28th September.
Dean recorded two rounds of 74 and 77 on the challenging Ganton course near Scarborough, as Yorkshire ended up with an aggregate team score of 897.
This was just three shots less than Lancashire and 12 shots better than Northumberland who finished in third place.
Martin Brown, with rounds of 78 and 76, Ben Brewster with two rounds of 77, Dan Brown who shot a 72 and a 74, Jamie Bower who had 71 and 76, and William Whiteoak made up the rest of the Yorkshire team.
The latter shot a 76 in round one, but his excellent 69 in the second round was the best score of the day from the seven county teams.
Yorkshire will now move on to Devon in September to try and capture their first County Champions’ title since 2007.
Dean and his fellow Lindrick prospects will be hoping to be selected to play for his county in this prestigious championship final.
