Sheffield Steelers player-coach Ben Simon was congratulated on the team’s victory in the Elite League Championship from a surprise guest.
Teenage pop sensation Justin Bieber popped in to say ‘well done’ on the team’s success and to check out their impressive trophy before entertaining to a sold out crowd at the Motorpoint Arena.
Ben Simon, who has two Bieber-mad daughters, said he had hoped the superstar would be an ice hockey fan.
“My daughters are huge fans of Justin and it was great to meet him,” Ben said.
“He was also kind enough to sign a Steelers jersey for us which the team plan to donate to charity.”
“He’s a great kid and it’s certainly made my daughters very jealous!”
To show his support for the club, the Canadian star happily posed for a photo and lifted the winning EIHL trophy.
Sheffield Steelers will make a decision on how to make a sizeable charitable donation from the jersey over the coming months.
In the meantime the club are busy finalising plans for their end of season dinner which takes place next Monday 28th March.
This year’s event will be held at the Royal Victoria Holiday Inn and there are just a few tables remaining, so if you’d like to dine with your favourite ice hockey team then make sure your get yours soon.
