Anston racer Ben Swift has maintained his excellent form this week, with two top four finishes in the Vuelta al Pais Vasco in Spain.
The Team Sky sprinter won the bunch sprint on day two of the Tour of the Basque Country into Dantxarinea, after the peloton had been unable to catch Tony Martin.
A delighted Swift tweeted: “Really hard final 30km today, brilliant work from the team today, was always going to be hard to bring Tony Martin back.”
He followed that up with fourth place on day three, freestyling his way through a roundabout-strewn run-in and was on the wheel of stage winner Michael Matthews as the pair powered for the line.
Sky’s Sports Director Dan Frost said: “Swifty actually rode the sprint like he should.”
“He was on the wheel of Matthews and opened when he had to open.”
