The Spanish midfielder is due to return to his parent club Celta Vigo following Saturday’s encounter with Yorkshire rivals Hull City at Wembley.

But speaking in an interview today with Goal.com, Lopez stressed he is focusing all his energy on this weekend’s showpiece fixture.

On his future, he said: “I am not thinking about that. Right now I am focused on May 28 [the final date] and then we will see.

“I came here with the plan to spend a year on loan and enjoy a new experience that would help me mature as a footballer and as a person, in order to come back a better player to Celta.

“All things told, I have three years left on my contract and I want to contribute to the growth the club has gone through in the past few years. The only thing I can say is that this has been a great experience, I am so happy.”

As the season has worn on, Lopez’s performances have improved, culminating in him starting both legs of Wednesday’s semi-final victory over Brighton and Hove Albion.

The 28-year-old, who has racked up 27 appearances in all competitions, will be vying with Sam Hutchinson for a place in the Owls’ midfield on Saturday,

“We are all desperate for such a big game to arrive,” he said. “Promotion to the Premier League at Wembley is on the line for us after such a long season.

“We have to take our reward in this game and we feel ready to do so, we are only thinking about promotion.”
