Nottinghamshire make steady progress against Warwickshire

Nottinghamshire occupied the slow lane after choosing to bat against Warwickshire in their Specsavers County Championship match at Edgbaston, reaching 71 for two from 32 overs at lunch.

Jake Libby batted through the session for 37 (117 balls) as the home attack bowled accurately to ensure that runs had to be earned on a good batting pitch.

There was some early swing in humid conditions, though it was one that nipped back off the pitch with which Rikki Clarke hit Steve Mullaney’s off-stump to make the breakthrough in the ninth over.

Michael Lumb eked ten runs from 62 minutes before misreading Jeetan Patel’s arm-ball and falling lbw.

Both teams have made one change from their last championship game, in the seam-bowling department. Warwickshire have brought in Mark Adair for Olly Hannon-Dalby while Nottinghamshire replaced Harry Gurney (who has a bruised heel) with Luke Fletcher.

Adair, playing only his second championship match, began impressively, conceding just seven runs in seven overs.
