Musclemen reach 'remarkable' targets
THREE Worksop bodybuilders have all reached their 'remarkable' personal targets in the same month.
Carl Robinson, who trains at the Bodyline Fitness Centre was first up at the NABBA Midlands event at Brierly Hill on 10th May, taking the win in Class 3 to become Mr Midlands for the second year running.
Carl then went on to the British finals at Southport on the 30th and took fifth in a very tough class against a line up of 20 other athletes.
Andy Bisset, of Rhodesia, who trains at Harveys Health and Fitness, entered the Mr Yorkshire open class at Batley Variety Club on the 16th, taking third place against much bigger opposition.
Andy went on to take a win at Pendle Valley on the 17th and a week later won the Under 80kg class at Warrington, which qualifies him for the British Championships at Nottingham in October.
Langold's Dave Titterton, who trains at Goodbodys Gym at Retford, entered the Class 1 at Batley on the 16th, taking the class win and then the overall to become Mr North East.
Dave then went to Southport on the 30th and won Class 1 in a field of 19 and took the overall, beating all class winners to claim the title of Overall Mr Britain 2009.
All three are sponsored by local company Foodtech Sports Nutrition.
Ken Roscoe, who acts as sports nutritionist for all three, said: "All the lads worked their backsides off in the gym and then fought through the hunger pangs for weeks to achieve their ripped condition."
"That's what makes the difference when they're stood on stage against other conditioned athletes, there's no hiding place then."
"It's the hardest sport in the world. They were in the condition of their lives, and the titles reflect that."
"For three bodybuilders from the same town to achieve all that in the same month is quite remarkable," he added.
