Gourlay is in-form at TT meeting

HODTHORPE'S Lea Gourlay was again in red hot form at last weekend's Post TT meeting at Mallory Park.

HODTHORPE'S Lea Gourlay was again in red hot form at last weekend's Post TT meeting at Mallory Park.

Fresh from wins at Snetterton last week, Gourlay rode his way to three victories and a second place on Sunday.

In the Maslin Trophy, Gourlay went head to head again with former World Champion Glen English, but could not repeat last week's heroics after starting on the fifth row of the grid.

On his 350 Manx Norton, Gourlay battled up to second by lap two and was chasing down English when the race was stopped for a crash further down the field.

The Hodthorpe ace was again required to start from the back of the grid at the restart and once more forced his way up to second place.

Even when his rear tyre started to break up Gourlay managed to maintain his position for the chequred flag.

However, that second place was eased with a win by seven seconds in the Classic Superbike after some superb riding on the 500 Manx Norton.

And that was followed by storming wins in the Post Classic, on his Yamaha TZ350, and the Rushden Queary on a Triumph Trident.

Gourlay said: "I like to think I am riding as well as I always do at the moment, but Glen seems to have an edge over me on some tracks."

"The 350 is not cornering as well as it should, but once we get the bike sorted out things should start to get better."

This weekend Gourlay will travel to Germany to compete in the Classic Hiro race at the famous Schleitz circuit where he will be campaigning on his Yamaha TZ350 again.
