DINNINGTON Town’s high scoring summer continued on Tuesday night, with the visit of an Under 21 Sheffield Wednesday outfit.

The Owls triumphed 4-1 at Phoenix Park, making it 16 goals scored in the two games Town have played in pre-season.

Their first outing, a wee previous at Thorne, ended 6-5 to Steve Toyne’s men.

On Tuesday, the Championship club took the lead through Harry Grant on 23 minutes.

Three minutes later it was 2-0 as Caolan Lavery pounced.

Things got worse for Town before the break when Grant got his second.

The second half was a more even affair however, and after Wednesday went 4-0 up through Patrick Antelmi with 10 minutes remaining, Jack Stephenson pulled a goal back for the hosts.

Dinnington are back in action on Tuesday night when they host Shardlow (7.30pm), before the visit of Kiveton Park on Thursday 19th July (7pm).

Pre-season continues with a trip to Hasland on 24th and Rotherham United come to Phoenix Park on Friday 27th July.

Town’s cup opponents have been confirmed, with an FA Cup extra preliminary clash at home to Atherton Collieries and a trip to Rochdale Town in the FA Vase first qualifying round.
