Worksop Borough secured three valuable points after a hard fought 2-0 win over Manton.

Manton JFC had the better start with ex-Borough players Scott Hartley and Kerry Watkinson working hard to try and get the better of their former team mates. Borough came into the game as the half progressed with Stancil providing a calming influence and took the lead after 30 minutes.

A fine move down the left involving Dawson and Booth saw a deep cross drop to Stephenson who scored with a classic volley from outside the box.

JFC should have equalised just on half-time when Thomson broke through only to hit the post from close range.

The second half saw a similar pattern with Borough’s defence well marshalled by Wood seeing off early pressure. Borough capitalised and killed the game off when Glynn finished with a neat left foot finish after 70 minutes.

Overall a tough game with very few clear cut chances.

Both sets of players should be credited for their effort and hard but fair attitude towards the game.

In Division Three Swans beat Manton Inn 3-1

Swan started the better team going 1-0 up from a penalty after juddy Stevens hand balled in the box and added another from open play.

Manton Inn created some great chances through boulding and bratton, but the swan keeper was in inspired form.

The second half started the way the first had ended with Manton creating wave after wave of attack until boulding was rewarded for his efforts with a goal to make it 2-1.

Boulding had a shot cleared off the line by swan player bonser, who not long after scored his self to make it 3-1 to the swan.

Swan took there chances but all in attendance agreed the better team had lost.
