Sheffield Wednesday have completed the signing of centre half Darryl Lachman for an undisclosed fee.

The 25-year-old has signed a two-year deal after moving from Eredivisie outfit FC Twente.

He said: “I’ve always dreamed of playing in England so I’m really looking forward to playing for Sheffield Wednesday and in the Championship.

“The Championship excites me and the plans of the club going up higher makes me excited. I’ve always played in Holland and I want to try something different.

“Playing in a stadium like Hillsborough is new for me, you don’t see many stadiums like this in Holland.”

A former Ajax youth product, Lachman switched to FC Groningen before joining PEC Zwolle where he won the second tier title before lifting the KNVB Cup to earn Europa League qualification.

He joined FC Twente last summer, going on to start 15 games in the Eredivisie as well as two games in Europa League qualification rounds.

Lachman has played international football for the Caribbean island of Curacao – currently managed by Patrick Kluivert – and has won four caps, including two earlier this month in World Cup qualifying.
