Tough week for Dinnington Town men

Dinnington Town were left out in the cold on Saturday, when their game at home to Clay Cross Town was called off due to a frozen pitch at Phoenix Park.

And their week didn’t get much better, with a disappointing 6-0 thrashing by high flying Newark in the Phoenix Trophies Floodlit Cup North.

Goals for the visitors came from Dominic Swingler, who notched a hat-trick, Ian Hillier, and a Sam Wilford double.

Central Midlands Black Dragon North division outfit Dinnington are 14th in the table, but have played significantly more matches than the teams below them.

This weekend they are due to be back in league action when they host Westella, the side who sit fourth in the table.

Westella have lost just one of their 13 league fixtures this season, winning 11 times to stake a real claim for title challenger status.
