WORKSOP Town have been given a massive boost in the last 24 hours, with the news that they’re likely to be back in the town next season.
The exiled football club were kicked off their Sandy Lane ground in 2008 by leaseholders 1861 Leisure Limited.
But yesterday contracts were exchanged as the lease changed hands, and Windsor Food Service chief executive Peter Whitehead took over the reigns at the council owned ground from 1861 Leisure.
Mr Whitehead is the financial backer of Central Midlands side Sheffield Parramore Sports, and he told the Guardian today that there was a good chance Tigers would join Parramore at the ground next season.
“I’ve exchanged contracts, and it is highly likely that Worksop will come back on the ground next season,” he said.
