Worksop Town will be a stronger, hungrier side next year after coming so close to a league title, says boss Mark Shaw.

The manager congratulated league winners Shaw Lane Aquaforce this week, after they clinched the NCEL Premier title by beating Cleethorpes.

While Shaw was disappointed the title race didn’t go into Saturday’s final games of the season, he was adamant Tigers would learn from this season.

“What a season we’ve had,” he said.

“We’ve had a fantastic season, and who would have thought at the start of it that we’d come this close to a league title.”

“Coming so close to it, we’ll be back to give it a really good go next season, and we’ll be stronger, and hungrier.”

On the title winners, who take up the one promotion spot into the Evo-Stik League, he added: “Well done to them, they’ve had a great year with the FA Vase run and the title, it’s a fantastic achievement.”
