Teenage striker moves across Bassetlaw to join Retford United’s survival fight

Teenage centre forward Aaron Richards has moved from Worksop Town to their Bassetlaw rivals Retford United.

The 19-year-old joined Tigers in January from Evo-Stick side Rainworth but has not been able to force his way into Mark Shaw’s plans. Richards was with Notts County and Mansfield Town as a scholar before moving to Conference Premier side Wrexham. He then joined Rainworth in the summer before Shaw brought him to Sandy Lane.

A gentleman’s agreement between the clubs will see Richards play for the Badgers on a loan deal of sorts before linking back up with Worksop in the summer.

Richards made his debut in Tigers’ ill-fated League Cup trip to Lincoln Moorlands Railway.
