A Worksop primary school has reached the regional finals of the Danone Nations Cup, the world’s biggest football tournament for 10 to 12-year-olds.

St John’s CE Primary School progressed from the county knockout rounds of the tournament and will compete in the regional finals, being held in March.

Around 2.5million children worldwide take part in the competition, with 3,000 schools competing in the English Schools’ Football Association organised section.

St John’s are now hoping to advance to the national finals.

The Midlands regional finals take place on Friday 19th March at the Riverside Sports Complex when the Worksop team will be in action.

The Danone Nations Cup is a FIFA approved tournament, with the Government’s ‘Inspired by 2012’ seal of approval.

It is an annual highlight in Danone’s ongoing programme of support for healthy lifestyles through education, fun and fairplay.
