Highly-rated striker Andre Gray is relishing the prospect of playing at Turf Moor for the first time since joining Burnley for a club-record £6m fee from Championship rivals Brentford.
The 24-year-old, who bagged 18 goals for the Bees in their top-six finish last season, started in the Clarets’ 2-1 victory at Bristol City before the international break and is eager to impress as Sean Dyche’s side prepare to entertain Wednesday tomorrow.
Gray, who snubbed the advances of Bristol City, said he can’t wait to make his home debut.
The former Shrewsbury Town trainee added: “It’s going to be a massive game for me and it will be good to play in front of the home fans.
“The away fans were outstanding with me, and hopefully I can give the home fans something to cheer about.”
Speedy striker Gray is expected to be paired again with ex-Sheffield United forward Sam Vokes up front.
“The break is frustrating for me because I want to play games, keep going and start getting on the scoresheet,” said Gray.
“But at the same time it’s a chance for me to get that bit fitter and hopefully I can come back against Sheffield Wednesday at home and hit the ground running.”
One player who is unlikely to start for Burnley is Joey Barton. The controversial midfielder, who recently penned a one-year contract, is still short of match fitness, having missed out on pre-season training.
