Dejphon Chansiri, the Owls chairman, has vowed to do all he can to make Hillsborough a place to fear next season.

Wednesday have been heavily criticised for controversially upping their match-day ticket prices.

But Chansiri insists the Championship outfit plan to introduce new initiatives to get supporters flocking to home fixtures. The Owls have recently announced a new Family Ticket option, which offers savings of up to 15% on members’ match tickets.

Chansiri said: “I pledge as chairman to explore every strategy to ensure we have as many fans inside Hillsborough as possible next season.

“I want to see Hillsborough full and make our home an intimidating place for our opponents to visit. It makes me happy to see all our fans together and behind the club. We have a wide spectrum of supporters in our family and If some genuinely cannot afford a ticket over the course of the season, I say ‘please do not worry, we will find a way.’

“Of course, not everyone can afford a season ticket so we are continuing to look at various possibilities and solutions on the match day as it has always been my intention to offer help and support.”

The Thai businessman also thanked the thousands of fans who cheered on the team in their pre-season friendly at York City and attended their annual ‘Owls in the Park’ event last weekend.

“Saturday’s game at York was only a pre-season friendly but we could hardly move our car driving away from the ground after the game because of our supporters lining the road,” he admitted. “I saw many fans coming up close wanting to take pictures and I thought it would be impolite if I did not step out of the car and stand alongside them.

“It was like a victory parade and it just made me feel so much how I just want to deliver the success they all deserve.

“The desire and warmth is there for everyone to see and I would like to thank them all.

“This weekend has made me happy and even more ambitious and determined to take us all the way to the Premier League.”
