Our Sheffield Wednesday blogger, Danny Wearin, looks ahead to the Owls’ FA CuP clash with Rochdale.

The Owls travel to Spotland to face giant killing Rochdale who defeated Leeds United in the third round.

League Two promotion hopefuls Dale pulled off a major upset when they beat Leeds 2-0 to book a place in round 4. The first time in 11 years.

Rochdale are aiming to knockout their third Yorkshire club in a row after they won at Rotherham in round two.

Dale have only conceded one goal in this seasons FA Cup and that was in the 2-1 victory against the Millers.

Keith Hill’s side have an excellent home record this season and have not conceded an home goal in four outings.

They sit in second place in the Sky Bet League Two table after a dramatic late comeback against promotion rivals Chesterfield on Tuesday night.

Wednesday go into this game seven unbeaten and have not lost on the road since November.

The Owls only recent advancement into round 5 was in the 2010/11 campaign where they were eventually knocked out by Birmingham City.

Stuart Gray’s side made it into round 4 with a victory over Macclesfield Town in the third round replay at Hillsborough.

The last meeting between these two sides at Spotland was two seasons ago. Rochdale missed a penalty 10 minutes from time and the game finished 0-0.

Caolan Lavery is eligible after missing out on the third round replay due to no involvement in the original fixture. Wednesday will be without top scorer Connor Wickham who is cup tied by parent club Sunderland.
