Sheffield United have been warned that Walsall will not be cowed by their size and status at Bramall Lane tomorrow, writes James Shield.

Instead Tom Bradshaw, the visitors’ centre-forward, last night claimed Dean Smith’s side could be viewed as favourites to win the pivotal League One encounter after ending United’s hopes of lifting the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy five weeks ago.

Walsall triumphed 1-0 when they two teams met in the quarter-finals of the competition last month and Bradshaw said: “Sheffield United are a big club but you’ve only got to go back to when we played them in the JPT and I thought we were convincingly the better team.

“Granted it’s away from home this time but they are still the same players, we are still the same players and we have got every confidence that we are going to go there and get the three points.”

Bradshaw issued his bold pronouncement after scoring for the 10th time this season against Barnsley six days ago.

Beating United’s South Yorkshire rivals moved Walsall to within four points of the play-off positions and stretched their unbeaten run to six matches.

Bradshaw added: “We made a slow start (to the season) which we’ve put right. We had a lot of injuries then but we were always confident that we were going to be up there in and around the play-offs.

“And we believe we are playing at that standard at the moment. We’ve got absolutely no fear of anyone coming here or us going anywhere.”
