Sheffield United have confirmed the appointment of Lee Turnbull, the former Middlesbrough centre-forward, as their new head of recruitment.
Turnbull, who will also double as the club’s chief scout, arrives from League One rivals Scunthorpe.
He joins Dean Wilkins and Andy Crosby on United manager Nigel Adkins’ backroom staff.
As The Star reported earlier today, officials at Bramall Lane spent last night locked in talks with their Glanford Park counterparts after Adkins identified Turnbull as his preferred candidate to fill the void created when predecessor Nigel Clough left South Yorkshire earlier this month.
Adkins, who twice led Scunthorpe to promotion before repeating the feat with Southampton, said: “Lee is very well-known to us and was an integral part of our success at Scunthorpe United.”
