Jose Baxter is free to resume his footballing career after the Football Association published its findings into the circumstances surrounding the Sheffield United midfielder’s positive drugs test.

Baxter, who was temporarily banned when traces of a prohibited substance, believed to be MDMA, were discovered in his system during an out-of-competition procedure last term.

The governing body this morning confirmed they were suspending the player for five months - a part of which has already been served - with the remainder suspended for two years.

That means Baxter, who put his case to a disciplinary panel at Wembley last week, can continue his preparations for the forthcoming season immediately.
