Worksop Town’s 4-0 thrashing of Parkgate on Wednesday was their ‘best performance of the season’ according to boss Mark Shaw.

The manager was purring after the victory that sent his men back to the top of the table.

“That’s the best performance of the season by an absolute mile,” he said.

“I was impressed with everybody.”

“That’s the kind of football I want to produce every week.

“Jake Scott, Steve Woolley, Jack Waddle, Kyle Jordan their performances are right on cue.”

Jordan in particular came in for praise, having returned for pre-season in great shape and made a starting place his own.

“He is like a new signing.

“He’s gone away, got himself right and he’s putting in great performances because he loves it here, he sees the potential of the club.

“Kyle’s not really had much of a chance before, he’s been a bench player with the teams I’ve managed, but this year he’s doing the business.”

Worksop are at home again on Saturday, to strugglers Brigg.

Defenders Jamie Hadfield and James Cottingham will be in contention to return to the squad, but Shaw isn’t in any rush to bring Phil Roe back yet.

“We’re protecting Roey, slowly bringing him back, and Jack Waddle is having a great run in the team.”
