A WORKSOP teenager has won the chance to live out many young footballer’s dreams by playing at Old Trafford.
Peter Cowburn, 14, has been rewarded for being one of the top performers at a player development course ran by Manchester United Soccer Schools last year.
He will join around 50 other kids to take part in a football workshop at the Theatre of Dreams with some of the club’s top coaches, enjoy a backstage tour of the stadium and even make his way down the tunnel on to the pitch.
“I am so excited to walk out onto the pitch and spend a day playing football in the stadium,” said Peter, who will take part in the event, named Champions Day.
The Elizabethan High pupil added: “I had such a great time at Manchester United Soccer Schools last year, I can’t believe I have been chosen to play at Old Trafford on Champions Day.”
The soccer schools offer aspiring players of all abilities the cahnce to develop fundamental football skills.
Head of Manchester United Soccer Schools Emma Savage said: “Every young player that attends one of our coaching courses has the opportunity to be selected to attend Champions Day with us.”
“It is a fantastic experience for any young footballer to develop their confidence and football skills in an amazing setting.”
Champions Day will take place on Sunday 15th May.
