Worksop Town begin pre-season training this weekend, but are yet to sign any players.
Boss Mark Shaw will put triallists, and players he hopes he can tie down for the 2014/15 season, through their paces on Saturday and Sunday.
But he told the Guardian the lack of budget has meant other clubs at higher levels picking off the talent he hoped to keep at Sandy Lane.
“Instead of starting with lots of players already signed, we’re look at signing players as pre-season progresses,” he said.
“I’ve been talking to a lot of the players who were here last season and then other clubs have been coming in and taking them.”
“One day we’ve got a player coming in, and the next day a club at a higher level comes in for them.”
Shaw expects to have around 15 players to work with this weekend and the hope is that with the #Team500 Club nearing the £40,000 mark in fundraising, he can soon begin to build his squad.
“I would like to think there will be over 15 people there on Saturday. Four players who want to sign are on holiday, and a few are seeing what it’s like at other clbs first.”
